Our Story

Established in 2018 by Dan & Valeri Remark, Magic City’s Remarkable is said to be Barberton’s best local eatery featuring fabulous food, super service and family fun!

Owner/Chef Dan Remark is a graduate of the world-famous Culinary Institute of America. Formerly he served as Executive Chef and VP of Food Service Operations for Mustard Seed Market & Café, Akron and Solon. Passionate about food and cuisine, as well as an inspiring teacher, Chef Dan furthered his career as an educator, teaching Culinary Arts at The University of Akron and Maplewood Career Center in Portage Co. Chef Dan’s enthusiasm for fresh, delicious ingredients (which borders on obsessive, just sayin’) in your breakfast, lunch or catering selections is what makes Magic City’s Remarkable Diner truly Remarkable! Owner Valeri Remark is no stranger to setting a lovely table and ensuring that her guests are happy & well-fed! Valeri’s working career began after attending Kent State University with the hardest job in the world – rearing their three talented, successful children. After that, she held the position of Administrative Assistant at Canal Place in Akron. Valeri enjoys playing soccer on the Akron Coasters women’s team, hosts a monthly canasta club for family & friends and loves scrap-booking! In her capacity of managing the diner, Valeri will be front & center, greeting you warmly with a ready smile!
